Hair Removal: Let’s Count the Ways

Hair Removal: Let’s Count the Ways

Body hair is normal, but as you start imagining your wedding day, it’s also completely normal that you dream about smooth, hair-free skin. You’re in luck, though, because there are a variety of ways you can achieve that — yes, even DIY. Let’s count the ways you can remove your unwanted hair, shall we? You have good ol’ shaving. Lasering with its hefty price tag. Then there’s the evil witch — waxing. But have you heard of sugaring? Don’t worry, we’ll unpack the basics on all the ways.

Shaving

How much can I tell you on this one you don’t already know? Essentially it comes down to you, shaving cream and a razor. Or ditch the shaving cream and use one of those cool gold-plated electronic razors. This option takes time and requires repeated use. Yep, I said what I said — with shaving, the hair grows back.

Lasering

Kill the hair follicle? Yes, please, but unless you want to break the bank or risk a misstep with one of those DIY laser hair removal tools, this is an option you might be better off just skipping. There’s other caveats, too, like it doesn’t perform well on deeper skin tones or those with lighter hairs because there’s less melanin there.

Waxing

Waxing is the one method I’d wager most people tried at a young age…I know I did. However, it is one painful B and requires I give my skin a lot of post-wax TLC I just don’t have time for these days. The other downside? It’s not even permanent, just semi-permanent. Who would subject themselves to this kind of repeated torture?

Sugaring

Less notorious than waxing, it’s the good news so many of us have been waiting for — it’s the less painful cousin to waxing. It’s also a great alternative for sensitive skin. So what’s so great about it? It yanks the hair out without sticking to your skin, thus removing layers of your skin. Notice how I said it yanks the hair out, though? That means, like waxing, it’s semi-permanent. So if you’re down with regrowth after a few weeks, this might just be the winning option for you.

Or if you’re like me and can hardly tolerate any pain at all, then you’ll want to go back to the basics and shave. Bottom line, you have options when it comes to being smooth and hair-free on your wedding day.
