NYLBFW Confirmed: Ball Gowns are a Trend for 2024 Weddings and Here’s the Most Princess-worthy Ones

Dear Fashionistas!

Growing up Cinderella was easily my favorite princess — her rags to riches story aside, this little girl could only appreciate the Fairy Godmother and the beautiful ball gowns that she provided. Fantasizing about wearing a big ball gown like that one day, I was drawn to that swallowed-up-by-the-dress look… you could say, the bigger, the better was certainly the motto here. As I grew up and my style became more discerning, so did the dresses I dreamed about, but ball gowns still managed to always top the charts. So when I picked up on the 2024 wedding dress trend of ball gowns, I was thrilled, over the moon in fact. It was this little girl’s fantasy come true and last week in New York did not disappoint!

NYLBFW showcased some of most stunning ball gowns ever with intricate detailing and the largest, most full skirts ever. Seriously, you didn’t hear it from me, but at one show (I won’t name names) the dress was SO big, the model actually knocked over someone’s glass of champagne with the skirt when walking down the runway… can you say showstopper?! But back to the detailing, where you’re promised to see plenty of lace, tulle and floral appliqués. There’s also some ruffles, pearls and beading. And if you’re into a more simple dress with clean lines, then you’ll be delighted, too!

Anywayyy, in my own version of heaven I’ve gone through and pulled together the most princess-style ball gowns I could find from the new 2024 collections. Most are classic, white (seriously pure white, like not even ivory or milky white), but there are a few that give me major Cinderella vibes in shades of soft, pastel blue. It makes me wonder whether those particular designers (ahem… Nardos and Ines di Santo) also have a soft spot for the princess or are just so trendy they had to utilize the soft blue that’s on trend for next year, but either way, I’m obsessed. You will be, too, so get scrollin’ and lmk which you fantasize about!
