Of course we had to know all about her process and she tells us it’s completed in three phases: Consult & Conceptualize; Design & Create; Fit & Finalize.
Step one in the consult and conceptualize phase is all about the design consultation, and it’s all done via video conferencing. It’s about getting to know you, your style, personality, and taste. Step two focuses on the fabrics, so the perfect materials can be sourced for your design. And finally, in complete transparency, for step three Angela confirms the design, materials, and type and amount of details to give you an estimated price (because we all know how important budgeting is when wedding planning !).
Then the fun part begins — design and create. Here, detailed measurements are taken at her atelier. And while Angela Kim Couture is located in Asheville, NC, she is also able to help you take those same measurements via video conference if you can’t get to her at this stage. Then, just like how it’s done in Haute Couture design houses, Angela makes a mockup dress in similar material to your actual fabric choice to test the fit and design details. And after the mockup fitting, Angela makes any necessary adjustments and begins work on your dress in the chosen fabrics.
With that all behind you, your vision and Angela Kim’s design is ready to come to life. In phase three she breaks it up into two steps: beading and embellishing, and final fitting and styling. It’s at this stage that you can specify the materials and placement of embellishments and work with Angela to achieve the exact look you want. What’s better than that?! Once complete, you’ll do the final fitting. And if you need further assistance, Angela will also help you to stylize your bridal look by suggesting the right shoes, accessories, hair and makeup as well.
